Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, Ron Arad studied at the Academy of Arts in Jerusalem and at the Architectural Association of London. In 1973 he moved to London, where in 1981 he founded together with Caroline Thorman the design and production studio “One Off Ltd.”. In 1989, with Alison Brooks and Caroline Thorman, he founded the studio Ron Arad Associates , which deals with projecting and design and which in 1994 moved to Italy, to Como. Ron Arad is Honor Professor of the Hochschule of Vienna and professor of Design at the Royal College of Art in London. His architecture projects include: the museum of design in Holon, Israel, the Hotel Puerta America in Madrid, the Hotel Duomo in Rimini, the Maserati Headquarters Showroom in Italy; the living and the dining rooms for the Sheikh Saud Al-Thani of Quatar, the Selfridge Technology Hall in London; the architecture of the Foyer of the Opera of Tel Aviv, Israel; the restaurants Belgo Noord and Belgo Central in London; and the development of a concept of Sport Café with advanced interactive audio/video technology for Adidas/Kronenbourg in France. In the field of furniture and industrial design Ron Arad has cooperated with Vitra International, Moroso, Driade, Draenert, Noto, Kartell, Artemide, Poltronova, Sawaya, Moroni, Lippert Wilkins, Ritzenhoff, Alessi and Fiam. Ron Arad has won a lot of prizes and his works are exhibited in the most prestigious collections all over the world.
