Johanna Grawunder is a famous designer born in San Diego (California) in 1961. She has always been interested at Design and for this reason she studied architecture at California Polytechnic State University. In 1984 she decided to move to Florence, where she completed her final year of university and then she moved to Milan in 1985. Between 1985 and 2001 she has worked with “Sottsass Associati”. 2001 she opened her own studio, which is currently based in both Milan and San Francisco. Her work is marked by its sculptural nature, as well as a sense of quality and longevitym achieved in direct contrast to what she sees as the ethos of the modern consumer era. During her career, she has collaborated with famous company, such as B&B, Flos and Glas Italia. Her works are included in multiple permanent museum collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, High Museum Atlanta and San Francisco MoMA.
